Pro-Stock Class Rules

Type of Cars: Any American-made sedan or station wagon 1980 and newer, must be fresh. No trucks, vans, El Caminos, hearses, 4x4's, limos, Imperials or Imperial sub-frames. IF THE RULES DON’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT DON’T DO IT YOU WILL CUT IT OFF COMPLETELY

 

A. Body

1. All glass, plastic, and interior must be removed before arriving to the event.

2. Doors may be welded 5” on 5” off with no larger than 3” x 5” x ¼” thick or can be wired shut with #9 wire.

3. Drivers door may have a door skin no thicker than 1/8” and may be welded all the way around.

4. Trunk lid must be from the make of the car and must be a trunk lid (no hoods).

5. You can fold trunk lid over or push down. Trunk must remain on factory hinges. Speaker deck must remain in original position.

6. No welding deck lid to trunk floor.

7. You must have a 12” x 12” inspection hole in deck lid.

8. Deck lids may be welded with 3” x 5” x ¼” plate 5” on 5” off.

9. Speaker deck must remain intact completely and in original position

10. Quarters must remain in factory position.

11. Body creasing is ok.

12. Hood can be bolted down in 6 places. 4 spots sheet metal to sheet metal and 2 front body mounts that may extend through hood. If using wire, you may use 8 double strands of #9 wire. 2 may go around bumper and/or frame.

13. Hoods must be open for inspection.

14. You must have a 12” x 12” hole over carburetor.

15. Factory body bolts may be changed to 5/8” bolts.

16. There must be a 1” gap between body and frame. You may use steel spacers, hockey pucks, or stack of washers none of which may be larger than 3” in diameter.

17. Body washers inside of car can be no larger than 3” in diameter.

18. The front 2 body mounts may be 1” and extend up through the hood.

19. No seam welding will be permitted on body. Repairing sheet metal is limited to where the battery box, gas tank, and driver’s area of the floorboards of the car.

20. Lower rear quarters may be rolled under, but no bolting or welding permitted.

21. Front body spacer may be a max of 6” tall and must remain below the core support.

22. You may use flat steel plate no thicker than 1/8” or a factory air condenser on core support in front of radiator not both. This may be attached with four 3/8” bolts or four 1” welds. If using a steel plate, it can be no wider or taller than the radiator.

23. You may have four ½” bolts per wheel well opening.

24. Max of 10 3/8” bolts each in hood and trunk lid around stack holes and trunk inspection holes.

25. If firewall is cut out or removed above the distributor absolutely no metal can be added to cover the ends that were cut out for clearance purposes must stay open.

 

B. Cage

1. You may have a bar in the dash area and a bar behind the seat with bars connecting the dash and rear bar on each side. Side bars must be inside of car not inside of doors. Roll over bar is permitted may be bolted through roof in 2 locations. 2-3”x3” down bars may attach to frame from cage, these bars must be in a vertical position.

2. Gussets permitted in corners of cage but must only be done at corners. Bars may be no larger than 4” in diameter and no longer than 60”. You may use a 10” x 10” x ¼” plate to attach bars to the sheet metal must be used to mount cage bars to body. No kickers or down legs permitted.

3. You may have a gas tank protector no wider than 32” permitted. It may touch the package tray but may not be attached in any way.

4. Dash bar must be 5” from firewall.

5. Rear bar may be no further back than where the kick panel meets the seat.

6. All bars must be 5” off the transmission tunnel.

7. Original gas tank must be removed and replaced with a boat-type tank or fuel cell. Moved inside of car behind driver's seat but no further back than rear axle.

8. Batteries must be moved to passenger side floorboard and securely fastened. These must be covered with a rubber or non-flammable material. May be mounted to cage cannot be used as a kicker or to strengthen car.

9. You may have 1 front and 1 rear window bar that cannot be any larger than 3” x ¼”. These may attach to the sheet metal no more than 6” on roof and deck lid cannot attach to roll over bar. Must be at least 5” away from any cage component (gas tank protector included)

10. 22-gallon max fuel tank size no huge tanks allowed!!!!!

 

C. Frames

1. No painting of the frames.

2. Trailer hitches and braces must be removed.

3. No frame welding other than what is stated in the rules.

4. You may cut the flaps and tilt the frame in 1 place and in 1 direction. 

5. No seam welding on frames permitted.

6. No shaping or hammering of the frame is permitted. You may crease, notch, or dimple rear 12” of the frame to help car roll.

7. You may have a 6” x 20” hump plate. This may be straight across or contoured to the frame and must be centered in the hump.

8. You may have only 2 4”x4” ¼” thick fix it plates total per car.  If you have more than 2 they will be completely removed not “x” or windowed completely removed weld and all!

 

D. Bumpers

1. Homemade front bumpers are permitted. Homemade bumpers can be no larger than 8” x 8”. The point must taper over an area of at least 32” wide and cannot exceed 12” wide (front to back). The point may only extend out 4” from the flat part of the bumper.

2. Factory replica bumpers are permitted.

3. Factory bumpers may be loaded or stuffed.

4. You may mount front and/or rear bumper by

   • Bumper may be welded to factory shock in factory location.

   • OR

   • Front frame may be shortened to front edge of body mount, not body mount hole(front 2 body mounts on the frame must be completed intact not cut at all) and bumper may be welded directly to the frame. On the back side of bumper where it meets the frame, you may use a ¼” x 6” x 6” to create a flat mounting surface between the bumper and end of frame not on top or side

5. Car must set level. Bumpers cannot be higher than 22” to bottom of bumper or lower than 14” to bottom of bumper.

 

E. Drivetrain

1. Any car motor of choice is allowed.

2. Must use frame mounts that have a rubber style bushing like a factory style mount. ZTR or equivalent mount will be permitted. No solid mounts permitted. No chains on engine allowed.

3. Transmission cross member can be a factory one or a 2” x 2” square tubing that must be straight.

4. Angles for cross member cannot be any longer than 7” and 2” x 2” must be within 12” from factory location.

5. Lower engine cradles and pulley protectors are permitted.

6. Trans braces and aftermarket tail shafts are NOT permitted.

7. Aftermarket aluminum bell housing are OK must be a ULTRA bell style no fabricated ones.

8. Slider driveshafts are permitted.

9. NO DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTORS OR MID PLATES.

10. Aftermarket gas pedal, brake pedal, steering column, and trans cooler are permitted. These must not be mounted in a way to strengthen car.

 

F. Suspension

1. Any tie rods may be used. On 03 and newer, you must use the factory rack and pinion. NO welding on factory rack or no rack and pinion protectors of any kind allowed.

2. Any rear end is permitted. If you run a rear end brace, it cannot reinforce the frame or be any wider than 10”.

3. Watts link conversions on 98 and newer cars are permitted. You must use 2” x 2” x ¼” square tubing or 2” round pipe for rear trailing arms.

4. Upper mounting brackets must be mounted to the package tray cannot be one continuous piece must be cut in 2 pieces. Lower mounting brackets must be mounted on side of frame. They cannot be mounted inside, on top, or on bottom of frame and can be no larger than 7” x 7”.

5. You can weld front a-arms down using a 2” x 4” x ¼” piece of steel front and back side of a-arm. No other weld is permitted on a-arm all 4” must be on a-arm itself.(not just touching to act as a fix it plate)

6. No spacers or other metal permitted in, on top of, or around coil spring inside of frame on front coil springs.

7. Rear coil springs may be wired or chained. Solid suspensions are ok. All suspension components must remain factory stock. No modifications will be permitted. Cars do not have to bounce.

8. Front coil springs must remain stock car coil springs. You may use 1” all thread for shocks no larger than a 3” washer and it must be standard nuts.

9. Leaf spring cars must remain factory springs. You cannot change coil spring to leaf spring set ups.

10. On 03 and newer fords, you must use factory aluminum cradle and suspension components. You may use 80s style spindles and only 80s style spindles. You cannot tilt an 03 and newer ford.

11. No aftermarket spindles allowed. If you use aftermarket ball joints, the collar you weld in or bolt in can only be a ½” bigger than the ball joint.

12. If you run a sway bar it must be mounted in the factory position no spacers allowed between frame and any sway bar bracket and a factory car sway bar no truck sway bars allowed. The ends can be heated and bolted to the a-arm with no larger than a ½” bolt. Must have a 1” gap from pulley protector.

 

G. Tires

1. Valve stem protectors are allowed.

2. You may use bead locks.

3. You may use weld in wheel centers.

4. No studded tires.

5. No wheel weights.

6. No foam filled tires allowed for safety reasons.
